St. Monica English Medium School (CBSE) organized a comprehensive Fire and Safety Rescue Programme on August 19th, 2024, at the school auditorium. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about fire safety, emergency response, and life-saving techniques.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Fr. Sooraj Joseph Lobo, who greeted the officials from the Fire and Rescue Service. Among the distinguished guests were Rajesh C.P. (Station Officer), Vishnu S.S. (Fire and Rescue Officer), Ragith Raju (Fire and Rescue Officer/Driver), Pradeep R. Menon (Home Guard), Manager Fr. Melwyn D’Souza, Principal Ancy Mathew, school staff, and students.
The highlight of the programme was an informative awareness session conducted by Mr. Rajesh C.P. and Mr. Vishnu S.S. The session focused on the proper use of fire extinguishers, CPR techniques, and first aid for choking emergencies. High school students actively participated in the session and gained valuable hands-on experience.
In addition to the theoretical session, a practical demonstration was held for students from the KG section to Class 10. A mass drill was carried out on the school grounds, where students witnessed emergency procedures and safety protocols in action. The children were excited and engaged, with a few students even volunteering to participate in the demonstration.
Fr. Melwyn D’Souza honored the students who took part in the demonstration and expressed appreciation for the officials’ efforts in providing such a valuable learning experience.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dhanvi from Class 9, who expressed gratitude to the Fire and Rescue Service team, the school management, and the students for their active participation.
The Fire and Safety Rescue Programme proved to be an educational and empowering experience, equipping students with essential safety skills and knowledge that can help them in critical situations.
