St. Monica School marked International Yoga Day on June 21st with a vibrant and engaging event focused on the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlighting the importance of physical and mental well-being for the community.
The celebration began at 3:00 PM in the school auditorium, with a brief introduction to the significance of Yoga Day by Thushara, a Class 10 student. She then welcomed the guest of honor, Ms. Abhijna Harish Karandakkad, a globally renowned yoga expert and gold medalist at Khelo India.
The event featured various yoga demonstrations, starting with the students of Class 8, who performed the Surya Namaskar, followed by students from Classes 9 and 10, who replicated the sequence. Additionally, students from Classes 8 and 9 presented an inspiring yoga dance performance, which was well-received by the audience.
In his address, the Manager, Fr. Melwyn D’Souza, emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to promote physical fitness and mental clarity. He encouraged students to embrace yoga as part of their routine for a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Nuha from Class 9, expressing gratitude to the guest, participants, and all those involved in making the celebration a success.
